1. Complete the online volunteer application form.(https://www.volgistics.com/appform/850645175) 2. Once your application is processed, you will receive an email with the next steps! This will include a Digital Orientation that you will have 30 days to complete! 3. Once you complete the Digital Orientation, you will be asked to schedule a Shelter Tour. Once that is completed, you will be an active volunteer with CARE! To walk dogs over 35 lbs, you must: - Be 18 years or older - Complete our dog walking orientation and then three hours of dog walking shadowing. You will be able to schedule these once you have completed the shelter tour!

Age: 10-15 years old, you may volunteer with a parent/guardian! 16-17 years old, you may volunteer as long as your parent/guardian signs our Minor Form! 18+ years old, there are no restrictions on volunteering! Attire: You MUST wear a volunteer tshirt (you can purchase one at our front desk for $10) and closed toed shoes - crocs do not count. Please plan on purchasing a t-shirt at your shelter tour or first volunteer shift! Commitment: Volunteers are asked to complete 6 hours of volunteer service a month to remain active. If you are not meeting these requirements, you will receive an email letting you know that you are at risk of being removed from our database. If you are removed, you will have to complete the entire application and onboarding process again to become an active volunteer.

Volunteers create their own schedule using their Volgistics account. They will be given the info to set this up once they complete the digital orientation! The volgistics app, VicNet, is an easy-to-use app that helps this process. We highly recommend downloading this app to help you schedule your volunteer shifts! If you cannot meet the requirements to volunteer with us, but still want to give back, we have some options for you! • Start a fundraiser • Create a supply unit • Make toys for our pets • DIY pet toy ideas(https://www.pinterest.com/thepuppybear/diy-for-animal-shelters/) • Coin operation: place empty bottles in local businesses (with the permission of the manager/owner!) To collect coins. When the jar is full, bring it to us! • Cake sales: ask a local merchant if you can organize a cake sale outside your business one day. Make bright posters to share with your neighborhood, church or on social media. • Birthday gifts: ask for donations to the shelter for your birthday instead of toys or gifts! Money, food, bedding, treats, garbage, any donation you want to ask on behalf of animals!
