How to Get Started

If you are interested in completing you hours with CARE, please fill out this survey (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScTKFjHgbDAqSdvybM_f7g-J0GfJCMj75ZOg-ETy66rrXf2hw/viewform)and then email our Volunteer Coordinator, Audrey, at volunteer@carehumane.org.(volunteer@carehumane.org) Please allow 48 hours for the volunteer coordinator to reach back out to you. 
 
There is mandatory orientation on Sunday mornings at 8:30am. These are usually about 30 minutes long and you MUST be signed up through the Volunteer Coordinator before showing up (email listed above). If you email on the Saturday before an orientation, you will be asked to do your orientation the following week due to time constraints.

During this, you will sign a Community Service Contract and A Bite/Scratch Waiver. If you are under 18, a parent/guardian must be present to sign the contract. 
 
You must bring any log or court orders with you (should you have them) and you are in charge of keeping up with your hours. We can provide logs should you need one. You must have an employee sign you in and sign you out at the beginning, end and breaks during your shift.

If you need a signed letterhead to submit to the court once all your hours are completed, you MUST email Audrey at LEAST 48 hours in advance.

 • Tuesday-Sunday: 8am-12pm
*Hours can be extended on Tues.-Sun. with authorization from a manager*
 
You must sign in and out for beginning, lunch breaks and end shifts

• You must be 16 years of age or older.
 • You are not allowed to handle or interact with any of the animals on site.
 • Attire: 
    • Long pants
    • No offensive or see through shirts
    • Closed-toed shoes that are slip-proof. Crocs do not count.
    • Orange Community Service Vests must be worn at all times. 
 • No cell phones, iPods, etc. allowed while working
 • 10 minute breaks may be given after 2 hours of working. 30 minute lunch breaks are given after 6 hours of working. You MUST check with an employee or manager before taking a break
