Outdoor Cat Program

A win-win for both our non-traditional cats and adopters!

The CARE Humane Society   has an Outdoor Cat Program for stray cats that are not well-socialized or feral. Instead of traditional adoption, we aim to find alternative placements for these cats. They may not feel comfortable in a typical home environment but would thrive as "working cats" providing pest control for homeowners, landowners, and businesses. Our goal is to give these cats the opportunity to live happily by providing them with shelter, food, water, and the stimulation of hunting critters outdoors.

How does it work?

Our outdoor cat candidates are fixed, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and tested. They are adopted by families and individuals who appreciate working cats for pest control. Adopters must provide a suitable shelter, such as a barn or garage, for the cats during bad weather.
