Pets for Patriots helps United States military veterans adopt a new pet friend while giving the most overlooked shelter dogs and cats hope and a home. We have been partnered with them for a few years now and have homed many animals to some awesome veterans. All you have to do is submit an application through their website and once approved, you can come to the shelter and pick out your new best friend!

Application Process

  • Complete the pre-qualification application (takes less than 5 minutes)​​

  • If you pre-qualify, you will be sent a link to complete the online application

  • Once you submit it, they will ask for documentation

  • If approved, they will send you an approval email with steps on how to adopt your new best friend

Program availability

You must have:

  • A shelter/rescue partner within 40 miles of your home address

Proof of service

Applicants must:

  • Have a minimum 190 days of military service (basic and active duty training excluded)

  • Be able to provide proof of service (ERB, CDB, BIR, ESR, etc.)

  • If seperated, character of service must be honorable

Eligible pets

Pets must meet at least ONE of these criteria:

  • Dog or cat, at least 2 years of age

  • Dog or cat with special needs (birth defect, disability, or chronic medical condition)

  • Length of Stay of 6 months or more

  • Dogs 40+ pounds at time of adoption
