No More Wasted Lives Campaign

How Much Does It Really Cost to Save a Life?

At CARE Humane Society, every dollar you give helps save lives. Here’s what it takes to make a difference:

Average Cost to Care for a Pet Per Day: $39

Average Stay for Dogs: 98 days = $3,822

Average Stay for Cats: 32 days = $1,248

Average Adoption Fee: $150 (a fraction of the care costs).

CARE only receives funding for pets found within Auburn and Opelika city limits, and those funds cover just the first 7 days of a pet's stay. The remaining costs are fully supported by generous donors like you!

Other Costs Covered by CARE:

- Heartworm Treatment: $1,000 (average for 2-3 treatments)

- Spay/Neuter: $95

- Intake Exams: $165 (includes vaccines, flea/heartworm prevention, and dewormer)

- Special needs care can cost thousands.

Our Biggest Challenge Yet:

With an operating budget of $1,268,348, CARE must raise $891,000 (71% of its budget) to continue its mission.

Your support ensures they get the shelter, food, and medical care they deserve.

It’s Time to Take Action!

Donate, foster, volunteer, or advocate—everyone can do something. Together, we can create a world where there are no more wasted lives.
